MAPCO Express was about to extend an existing mobile application with new features to be deployed to their convenience stores throughout the US. Before starting their project, MAPCO decided to turn to RedBit Development for guidance on best practices
and training on developing mobile software.

 

Project Description

MAPCO Express had existing software deployed to retail store managers to manage inventory from a mobile device running Window CE.  The development team was about to undertake a new project to enhance the functionality to the mobile software but required training developing for Windows CE based devices using .NET Compact Framework. 

The internal MAPCO development team did have experience in software development, but most had Visual Basic 6.0 experience and needed to get familiar with Visual Studio and Visual Basic for .NET.

RedBit Development was able to deliver a 5 day custom training course built to suit the needs of the MAPCO Express development team.  The custom course covered introduction to developing mobile applications using Visual Studio and .NET Compact Framework, effectively managing memory within an application, using SQL Server Compact, Remote API, best practices when developing a mobile application plus various other topics.

RedBit was able to create and deliver the custom training course within a two week period and MAPCO development team was able to start the new project with the knowledge required for a successful mobile project.
